Tenants Set to Get Scooting at Windmill Green

27th February 2018

Staff at one of the coolest workspaces in Manchester will be given kick-scooters to zip around the city when Windmill Green opens later this year.

FORE Partnership has agreed a deal with Salford-based Swifty Scooters to provide the safe, fun and alternative mode of transport for people working at the Mount Street office building.

Five custom-built, branded kick-scooters will make up Windmill Green’s Swifty Fleet, available in the reception for tenants to use free of charge.

Swifty Scooters, who currently sell direct to consumers around the world, have entered into their first commercial deal to offer their kick-scooters in a shared urban mobility scheme, complimenting the sustainability ethos of the building.

Basil Demeroutis, Managing Partner of FORE, said:
“At Windmill Green we want to provide our community with different options to get about town, whether to and from meetings, or just to get fit and active over lunch.  Swifty’s kick-scooters will complement our cycle hub and provide an alternative to riding a bike, walking or getting a tram. Scooting is a cool and quick way to get about the city. It’s fun, it’s sustainable, it’ll keep you fit and make you feel great.”

Swifty Scooters is run by husband and wife team Camilla and Jason Iftakhar and was launched to critical acclaim in September 2011 with the world’s first premium foldable kick-scooter for adults.  Swifty was recently named as one of the top 100 most innovative and forward-thinking companies in Greater Manchester.

Camilla said: “The Swifty Fleet is perfect for short distance urban mobility, the scooters are great quality and provide a smooth, fun ride around pedestrian areas of the city centre.

“FORE understands our vision and passion and are committed to the health and well-being benefits scooting will bring to the Windmill Green community. We’re excited to be growing scooting in Manchester and beyond.”

Demeroutis added: “We are pleased to back such an innovative and creative local company.  It’s a central part of our vision of real estate as a force for social good to help efantastic, small, local firms fulfill their business as well as social purpose.”

Last month, FORE announced global coworking firm Our Space has taken 13,600 sq ft at Windmill Green.

Our Space will offer a workspace environment committed to connecting humans, nature and technology through thoughtful design and an unparalleled experience for members.

With building work well underway, Windmill Green has been designed to energise and inspire a collaborative and creative workforce when it opens this summer.

A roof top terrace with stunning views over the city, a coffee bar, living walls, bee hives, a cycle store and open spacious floorplates are just some of the other features taking shape at Windmill Green.
